What a deadzone is, and why you can see it here

A deadzone is a radius around the centre of an analog stick inside which a game ignores input entirely. It exists because no stick returns to exactly 0.000, 0.000: manufacturing tolerance, spring wear, and sensor noise all leave a small resting offset, and without a deadzone your character would creep across the screen forever. The shaded ring on each pad above is that radius drawn to scale, and the bright dot is where your stick actually is, updated every animation frame.

Drag the slider and the ring resizes live. This is the fastest way to answer two questions. First, is my resting offset inside a typical deadzone? Most games use something between 0.05 and 0.15 — if your released stick sits inside the ring at 0.08, the drift is real but most games will already be swallowing it. Second, how much travel am I losing? A deadzone big enough to hide serious drift also eats the slow, precise movements you need for aiming, which is the trade-off behind every "increase your deadzone" fix.

Watch the dot while you roll the stick around the rim, too. A healthy stick traces a smooth circle or a rounded square out to the edge. Flat spots, sudden jumps, or a rim it can't reach on one side point at a worn potentiometer rather than a centring problem.
